Interview
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach French and Spanish.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from the Ecole Active Bilingue Jeannine Manuel in Paris in 2008 with a French Baccalaureate in Economics and Social Science.
I am currently a 4th and final year student at University College London (UCL). I read Politics and German and I am expected a high 2.1 as my final grade.
What kind of experience do you have?
Having been raised in Paris, I grew up in the French Teaching system. I averaged a 16/20 at my Baccalaureate which is the equivalent of the "très bien" honours. My Mother being Spanish, I am also fluent in Spanish and have scored a 20/20 at my Spanish exam of the French Baccalaureate.
I have been tutoring for three years now, and I am currently a volunteer French teacher at my university where I teach French for beginners. I am also wanting to be part of a Student ambassador program which is a program launched by London Universities to encourage children to pursue higher education and learn languages.
How much do you charge?
I charge 20 pounds per hour.
Where do you teach?
I am willing to travel (no charge) to several areas of London to students' home.
When are you available?
I am available on Monday afternoons, Tuesdays, Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I can teach all ages. I can teach children from 5 and older and men and women who wish to pursue their conversational skills.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
No
Do you have a personal message for students?
I speak 5 languages fluently and I know that the key to learning is simply SPEAKING. From experience, I know that it can be tough to be comfortable speaking to a native speaker and, having been on the other side as a learner I am willing to help my student as much as possible, in a casual and open-minded environment.
Just do it !
Advice from a multi-lingual : The ONLY way to learn a language is to Speak. Ok, I know it is easy to say but believe me, even if you think you sound dumb, it is only by speaking that you'll end up learning it. I speak 4 languages and I am currently learning a fifth one, so trust me :...
