Personal Message: I'm passionate about music, performing and teaching. I have a versatile background that includes modern performance and improvisation.
Which subject(s) do you teach?: Flute, Musicianship and Theory.
Tell me about your qualifications.: I received First Class Honours at the Australian National University, completing a Bachelor of Music. I then completed the Advanced Performance Program at the Australian National Academy of Music.
What kind of experience do you have?: I frequently play with Australia’s major orchestras including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and most recently the BBC Symphony Orchestra in the UK. I have performed concerti with Orchestra Victoria and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. In 2009, I held a fellowship with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and the next year performed as Principal Piccolo with the Australian Youth Orchestra on their international tour. I have been artist-in-residence twice at the Banff Centre, Canada working on modern performance techniques.
How much do you charge?: £35 per hour; £18 per 30 mins.
Where do you teach?: I am willing to travel to the students' home if within London and I also teach from home.
When are you available?: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, Friday and Saturday.
Which ages and levels do you teach?: All ages.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?: I hold the Australian equivalent called a 'Working with Children' check.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?: I am a member of the Southbank Sinfonia in 2012.
Where and with whom did you train?: I have studied under a number of flutists including Michael Cox, Wissam Boustany, Margaret Crawford, Virginia Taylor and Vernon Hill. I have performed in the masterclasses of Sharon Bezaly, Paul Edmund-Davies, Susan Milan, Felix Renggli, Wendy Quinlan, Andrea Lieberknecht, Philippe Bernold, Benoît Fromanger and Julien Beaudiment.
Do you have a personal message for students?: I am a passionate performer and teacher. I have an interest in how as teachers we adapt to suit each individual student to get the best out of them.
