Personal Message: The Voice Studio is about the realities and practicalities of helping a person improve their singing and / or speaking voice; of listening to and respecting the individual; to help that person find the true possibilities for their voice.
Which subject(s) do you teach?: I teach Singing and Speaking Voice.
Tell me about your qualifications.: I hold the postgraduate Certificates of Advanced Studies in Vocal Training & Opera from the Guildhall School (LGSM; pg GSMD) as well as the Certificate in the Art of Teaching Singing from Thames Valley University.
What kind of experience do you have?: I have over 15 years performing experience worldwide and 15 years teaching experience. I am both an accomplished singer as well as a leading professional singing teacher and vocal coach.
How much do you charge?: Standard rate £50 per hour; Reduced rate £45 for school pupils aged 16 - 18 years / university students
Where do you teach?: At my own studio in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
When are you available?: Sessions can be booked Monday to Friday 9 am-9 pm and Saturday 9 am-6 pm. Students “book and pay as they go” - there is no requirement to pay in advance or to book a number of lessons. You may ask to have the same time or you may choose to arrange a different time for each lesson. In-house training and group sessions can be facilitated for corporate clients.
Which ages and levels do you teach?: The aim of The Voice Studio is to encourage singers of all ages - from beginners to professional performers - to explore their true vocal potential. The Voice Studio accepts singing and speaking voice students aged 16 years and upwards.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?: Performance coaching for auditions, solo roles, music college / performing arts college entrance singing exams (all grades covered up to and including diploma level).
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?: Application for CRB in progress.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.: Not currently available.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?: I am a member of the ISM (Incorporated Society of Musicians); the BVA (British Voice Association) and AOTOS (Association of the Teachers of Singing).
Where and with whom did you train?: My background and training is as a classical singer. I trained first in Glasgow and then spent four postgraduate years at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London majoring in solo performance. I have studied with EVTS (Estill Voice Training Systems) and with Vocal Consultant, Dr. Meribeth Bunch Dayme.
