Interview
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach French, English, EFL, Drama and can help with speech/elocution, translation/interpretation as well as coaching children from KS1 to 4 including exam coaching and essay proofreading/writing.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I am an honours graduate of U.C.L., London and the Sorbonne (Paris V), Paris. I have my LAMDA teaching certificates and a PGCE in MFL from Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching and coaching in both private and public sectors for over 10 years.
How much do you charge?
I mostly charge a flat rate of £20 although translation and interpreting is more likely to cost more. If a great deal of travelling were involved I would have to consider a mileage rate as well.
I also offer group discounts for up to 4 people per group. Please contact me for more details.
Where do you teach?
I teach both at mine and my students' homes. There is easy access to my home by car and local bus service and I would be willing to collect students from nearby train stations if necessary. Please contact me for further details.
When are you available?
I am available during both daytime and evenings on most days in the week (Monday to Friday inclusive). As I have school age children the holidays can be more difficult - but even there I have some flexibility so it is always worth contacting me to find out.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
Due to my extensive experience over the last 10 years, teaching all levels from KS1 to adult learners, I am able to offer tutoring to a wide range of ages and levels. I have my LAMDA teaching certificates, am fully bilingual with degrees garnered both in the London and Paris, and am currently coaching bilingual students through a number of examinations including GCSE's, A'Levels and the I.B., while also attending to the needs of KS1 pupils several times a week!
Do you have a CRB disclosure certificate?
I do have a current CRB disclosure certificate which I can produce if required.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am available for online tutoring. I have discovered that the best way for that to work is for the student to email any relevent documents to me prior to the lesson time, and then for us to be in contact via either Skype or another internet IM programme during the allotted lesson time.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I currently teach in 2 schools, in one I cover KS1, and in the other I serve the needs of the bilingual students (French/English) as they progress towards GCSEs, A'Levels and I.B. I also coach some of the more advanced English and Drama students towards their private exams. I have also just finished teaching a course (devised by myself) to several groups of adults who were seeking to improve their language skills before retiring to sunnier climes!
