- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have been teaching both violin and piano privately for over 6 years. Since leaving college I am now able to dedicate more of my time and attention to both teaching my own students and offering intensive coaching for exams and scholarship auditions. These specialised coaching sessions have most recently helped to achieve music scholarships to both Cheltenham Ladies College and Downe House School. I have experience of teaching a wide range of ages and abilities, from 6 year old beginners, through teenage advanced pupils, to adults with special teaching requirements.
For the academic school year 2008-09 I was employed by the Richmond Music Trust. I taught violin and piano in 6 schools and the Richmond Music Centre, where one of my students was awarded a place in the new 'Barbican Young Orchestra'. In July 2009 I moved to Milan where I continued to teach privately until March 2011. - How much do you charge?

- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- No
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- I am able to teach select instruments via Skype.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- Since graduating I have been performing with many different groups and orchestras. These include the London Handel Orchestra, Greenwich Baroque Orchestra, Charivari Agreable, International Baroque Players, Chameleon Arts Baroque, Earls Court Baroque and many others. In July of 2009 I lead the orchestra of the Schola Pieta Antonio Vivaldi (notably featured in a 2008 BBC 4 documentary) in a series of four very well received concerts. I have also held the position of leader of the orchestra of New European Opera, performing with them in London, Fontevraud and Paris. While living abroad in Italy I was lucky enough to win a place in the Academia Montis Regalis orchestra.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I began learning the violin at the age of 2. As a member of the London Suzuki Group, I had frequent opportunities to play in orchestras and chamber groups, as well as joining several local youth orchestras.
In 1996 I became a student at the junior department of the Royal Academy of Music, which I attended for the next 6 years. Whilst there I had individual lessons in violin and piano and had the great honour of leading the Symphony Orchestra in my final year.
From 1998 until 2002 I attended the prestigious London specialist Music School, The Purcell School. There I received excellent coaching and took advantage of regular performance opportunities.
In 2002 I declined the offer of a scholarship from the Royal Academy of Music, in order to study Baroque Violin with Rachel Podger at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. In doing so, becoming its first ever student to complete an undergraduate course with this instrument as a first study. I graduated in 2006 after taking leading roles in various projects, including the virtuosic solo violin part in Bach's fourth Brandenburg concerto. In July 2007 I completed a Masters Degree in Early Music also at the Guildhall. - Do you have a personal message for students?
- Each new student brings a new challenge and an opportunity to explore new ways of guiding them through complex technical study points, whilst ensuring that their experience remains exciting and inspirational. I have a thorough understanding of the Suzuki method and have also researched other teaching methods, such as Colour Strings. As well as giving private tuition, I have experience of group teaching within schools and workshop leadership, as part of my undergraduate degree.
I am a professional Violinist and I understand what it takes to reach any level of ability on an instrument. I do not expect every one of my students to go on to become professionals, instead I help them to achieve whatever goals they set for themselves.....and often a lot more!

Useful Books for Learning Violin
By far the MOST useful book I have ever encountered during my years of teaching has been: Improve Your Scales by Paul Harris These wonderful books work through the required scales for each violin grade, giving two little pieces to play in each key as well as several exercises called "finger fitness". In the first book you will find a 'chart'...
