What kind of experience do you have?
I have resided in the UK for over 20 years so I have a native speaker level of English and excellent communication skills. I studied in London graduating from the London College of Communication with a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design in 1995. Living and working in London for many years has informed my professional practice and mindset. I have taught general and business English and Italian to professionals high school and university students at all levels, in either individual or group classes up to 6 participants in testing modules, and up to 12 participants in complementary classes. I have worked at Wall Street Institute in Milan, Italy and regularly tested students on their acquisition progress, providing advice on their learning method within WSI guidelines. Additionally I planned and held various 'in-school' activities including themed social clubs and complementary classes such as music and singing workshops integrating grammar and pronunciation points, introducing students to connected speech and practising how to link sentences in spoken English. I also planned literature complementary classes where students listened to audio files, answered collectively to story comprehension tests, were given special glossaries with new vocabulary and practiced summarising skills and role-palying or recounting parts of the narrative to each other and myself.

Young Learners – Play & Learn – Fun English for Kids – Milan and Lake Maggiore, Italy 2007/2010 - Kentish Town City Farm , London Summer 2011
I held weekly workshops in Milan for children between 4 and 12, backed up by materials to trigger interaction, manipulation or games, and aimed at developing children’s fluency in spoken English and Italian.
In 2009 and 2010 I have also adapted workshop’s contents and materials to ‘summer camp’ format and worked as activity leader with residential groups of bilingual nursery children in a didactic farm on the hills of lake Maggiore. The workshops were then hosted again by Mini Art Factory in Milan during the 2010 autumn term and attended by young Italian learners of English as a foreign language.

I have created three 'eco-fable' interactive week-ends for youg learners. in May 2010 I have also been commissioned by a local primary school to produce an 'eco-fable' cross curricular module, with printed materials and mask making for 200 pupils, leading to a show and and tied in with language interaction workshops in each class.

I have a full programme of play, move and sing classes for children aged between 3 and 6. These are held in community halls, churches, libraries, and nurseries.

Tell me about some of your current students.
In recent years as a private tutor I have helped several students on a one to one basis to reach their English language and communication goals. In some cases my students have chosen to prepare for Cambridge Esol exams, University entry level exams (IELTS), business English exams (BULATS and MARKET LEADER) or asked for support with their practical professional skills for example on how to structure and write a successful CV or prepare for an interview or a presentation in English. Last spring 2011 one of my students successfully passed her Level 1 & 2 business English exams (Market Leader), part of her Marketing and Communication degree course at ILUM in Milan (Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione). Another of my students who had been out of work for a year took a 15+15 hour General English course and three professional development skills modules (What next? CV writing and Interview skills) and shortly after she was invited to some interviews and has recently been appointed as Marketing Qualitative Manager by a company in Milan. I have also started a young learners strand of teaching called Play & Learn tm, held summer camps and creative workshops at nurseries and play centres in Italy and in London.

Please check my website where you can read my students' feedback in the comments section.
Do you have a personal message for students?
What is the best course of action for you?
From Early Learning activities for your children to Academic Exam preparation and from General English to Practical Professional Modules, I can help you assess and set your goals for your unique English language pathway of learning. As specific needs can vary depending on your age, circumstances and aspirations I can offer group or individual sessions to assess your needs and tell you more about my method and tools, different type of classes to ensure you and your family and friends can make an informed choice and the most effective investment of your time and effort.

Why choose me as a Tutor?
There is nothing more rewarding in life for me than providing support, cultivating and helping other people develop their knowledge and life skills.
I thrive on creating real opportunities for growth and development for my students and build a sense of community and direction around them.
Preparing conscientiously for lessons, sourcing ad hoc, interesting, surprising and entertaining tailored material for teaching is fun for me, and observing interactions and results in actual time is fantastically rewarding. Giving and receiving immediate feedback to students gives me a great sense of achievement and if people leave class looking forward to the next one then I instantly know if I have done a good job.
