- I am a current postgraduate student with almost five years teaching and tutoring experience. I have experience teaching children of all ages and abilities.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Most of my experience is in teaching mathematics and English language. However I have also had experience teaching politics and economics and would also be able to teach history.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have an undergraduate degree from the university of Manchester in Politics and Economics in which I scored an upper second. I am currently working on an MSc in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship. My A-levels were in Mathematics, English Literature and History to which I scored straight As.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have worked part time for the last 6 years as a maths and English teacher in an after school club setting teaching children from 5 to 15 in counting to calculus and letters to Ulysses. I have also done some occasional one on one tutoring to GCSE students mainly in mathematics though also covering other subjects such as history and economics and have also taught government and politics to A-level students.
- How much do you charge?
- I charge a flat rate of £15 an hour for most tuition with the exception of £20 an hour for A-level mathematics since it requires a higher level of preparation and marking to be done properly. I would consider a discount rate for group sessions and would also be willing to discuss a rate for a course of tuition for example 10 hours plus the marking of 5 essays. I will not usually charge for travelling.
- Where do you teach?
- I am based in the centre of Manchester and can teach here I would also be willing to travel to any student homes within the Manchester area particularly south Manchester i.e. Rusholme, Chorlton, Withington, Fallowfield, Didsbury or Levenshulme.
- When are you available?
- With regards to time I am fairly flexible during the week and at weekends during the university term except for Thursday and Friday afternoons.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I can teach all ages and levels in person though when teaching on line I feel that students need to be fairly disciplined and mature and have some level of passion or interest in the subject.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I normally prepare my students for either GCSE or A-level exams though I have tutored students preparing for IB, American SAT tests and university entrance tests.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- I use a webcam and microphone through Skype while using electronic whiteboard software called iDroo. I will also use email to arrange tuition and look at homework.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- My maths and English teacher training was with Kumon maths and I also qualified as a tutor with Greene's Tutorial College in Oxford.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- I currently teach a 17 year old boy A-level mathematics over Skype. I initially found it difficult to teach maths over Skype since the distance learning atmosphere does not really support my usual method of teaching mathematics through repetition of many examples of questions. Eventually the solution was to give plenty of homework and then work through the student's mistakes.

Living without government: a tale of two countries
On October 8th Belgium hit the milestone of 530 days without a government leaving the previous record holder’s (Iraq) 290 days far behind. Egypt, only at 237 days, is also without a legitimate government. The two countries’ experiences are somewhat different. Belgians find the whole thing relatively amusing since their day to day lives remain...
