About Martin
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching for over eight years in Hong Kong on a personal basis. I shall be returning there, but still wish to develop my tutoring.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I do not yet have this certification, but have taught successfully for over eight years with no problems.

I have always been fond of languages, so I am keen to teach English, German and French to students at a high level. My Cantonese is also quite acceptable, and I am able to teach Westerners. I love teaching those who have a heart for my languages too.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach English, French, German and Cantonese.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a first-class university degree in German, Russian and French. I also have O-level Spanish and Latin.
- How much do you charge?
My standard charge is £30 per hour. This may increase, if your requirements are very demanding.
- Where do you teach?
I have acquired very good experience using Skype, and although I am leaving the U.K. in September, lessons can still be arranged most efficiently using Skype. It is only necessary to allow for the time difference.
- When are you available?
Afternoons and evenings GMT, with Saturdays also possible.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am able to teach these languages to all levels and ages, but I prefer more advanced students and the challenge of more advanced material.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Most qualifications can be prepared for.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Skype with video is an excellent method of tutoring, and using it means neither tutor nor student needs to travel. Of course it requires good arrangements and payment in advance.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
My message to students considering committing is to try it out, because I love languages, and I think you will have fun too. I don't expect you to commit long term, and prepaid trial lessons are acceptable.
