I am a (BSc) third year Pharmacology student at the University of Portsmouth with a career ambition of teaching,
Which subject(s) do you teach?
GCSE science: biology, chemistry, physics all levels.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a recent certificate received by University of Portsmouth for working on the Student Associate Scheme. This involved a month working in a school environment observing lessons, working alongside teacher, helping pupils and teaching some lessons.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have helped GCSE science pupils through their science classwork and throughout their summer examinations and received positive feedback from the pupils.
How much do you charge?
I charge £15 per hour, however there will be additional charge of £5 to cover travel expenses outside the 10 mile radius of PO4. 10% discount for group lessons.
Where do you teach?
I am willing to teach at the students home, or alternatively at my own home. I am can travel up to 10 miles from PO4. Surrounding areas I travel to include: Fareham, Gosport, Hayling Island, Havant, Emsworth, Waterlooville.
When are you available?
I am free in the evenings from 6pm and flexible on days of the week. I can teach during half terms, however not during the Christmas period.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
GCSE all levels, 14- 16 year olds.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
GCSE sciences.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
I have a recent CRB form.
Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I will use skype for online tutoring and send the student past paper questions via email prior to the first lesson. I will ask the student to have a go at the questions. In the online tutoring session I will go over anything that they are unsure of, talking them through examples and send them additional notes as well as some homework.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of the British Pharmacological Society (BPS)
Do you have a personal message for students?
I have found using past papers a useful way to test your knowledge, and through repetitive questions this technique will help you pass examinations.
