- Personal Message
- Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I have been tutoring for over four years now and love my work! Please contact me if there is anything else you would like to know.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach French, German and English as a foreign language.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have a TEFL qualification. I have a joint degree in French and German and a PGCE.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have taught in schools for the past eight years. I have been a private tutor for the past six years. I still teach part time in a school but a couple of years ago I set up my own business private tutoring. I tutor GCSE students, A level students, adults and young children.
- How much do you charge?
- I charge £27 per hour. The first lesson is free. For half hour lessons, the cost is £15.
Most students have an hour a week, however it is possible to have a half hour lesson, (which I recommend for younger children) a two hour lesson or a lesson every other week or even once a month, it is up to you! I am willing to travel, however there might be a small travelling fee depending on where you live.
There are reductions for people wanting to learn in a group. This is a fun way of learning and reduces the cost for you. If you are interested in joining a group but don't know anyone else who wants to learn, please contact me anyway as I am happy to advertise to form a group and hire out a village hall for the lesson to take place. - Where do you teach?
- I teach in either the work place or home of my students. I am also happy for students to come to my house. I am willing to travel into Newmarket, Cambridge, Saffron Walden, Ely, Bury St Edmunds and all the surrounding villages.
- When are you available?
- I tutor during the day and evenings and at the weekends. I tutor throughout the holidays too and I am happy to take on students who just want lessons for the short term, for example for a few revision lessons.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach all ages and abilities.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I cannot enter students for exams as this has to be done through an exam centre, however, I am happy to support and guide them with whichever qualification they are studying for.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes and this document along with my degree and teaching qualification will be shown on the first lesson.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- Lessons are charged in 15 minute blocks and need to be paid before the lesson starts. Study material is emailed to the student before the lesson. Students will need either Skype or Messenger and ideally a webcam. There is a different tariff for online lessons, please email me for the prices.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I studied in Manchester for my degree, then I did my PGCE at Homerton, Cambridge.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- I have a wide range of students at the moment, many of whom have been with me for over a year. I have young students who enjoy their lessons through learning songs, playing games and having "hands on" resources. I tutor a number of children who are home tutored. A lot of my older students are wanting to learn a language because they go to that country a lot for business or for holidays. Throughout the year I have a number of GCSE students who want extra help and I often find that some will come back after their GCSE for help with their A level French.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- My lessons are tailor made to suit your own individual requirements. Lessons are always informative and enjoyable. You will always get a copy of any vocabulary and worksheets that we have done in class.
