- Personal Message
- Hello!
I hope you find the information below useful. Please do not hesitate to contact me for more details.
I look forward to hearing from you! - Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Violin
Piano
Theory - Tell me about your qualifications.
- Bmus hons in Violin Performance from Trinity College of Music
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have been working for Southwark Music Service over the past three years as a Wider Opportunities Practitioner which involves me going to primary schools around the borough of southwark and teaching class violin, singing and recorder lessons. The lessons are work shop based and usually runs the course of 10 weeks where the children will be introduced to an instrument and learn about basic rhythm, musicianship and compositional elements. At the end of the program the children have a basic knowledge of how to play the instrument and perform in a concert for the school and parents.
The program is very special as it allows children who may not otherwise had an opportunity to learn an instrument at least have a go at expressing themselves through music.
Besides the work that I do for Southwark, I teach the violin privately from my home in Lewisham. I have a good knowledge and thorough teaching method for basic to advanced violin technique and teach both adults and children at different stages of learning. - How much do you charge?
- Rates are negotiable.
- Where do you teach?
- I am situated in Lewisham where I teach from home, and also travel around London for home visits.
- When are you available?
- Time and date are negotiable.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach children ages 4+ through to adults and have a wide knowledge of basic/advanced violin techniques.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- For my students who want to take grade examinations on their instrument, i follow the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music Exam method from grade 1 - 8.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- YES
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I studied with Andrew Shirwood and Dianna Cummings at Trinity College of Music.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- I believe learning an instrument should primarily be fun and a means of expression.
If you are keen to start learning the violin, or have had previous experience and would like to start playing again, please do get in touch. I have experience teaching students of different backgrounds, some of which play as a hobby, and others that want to further their playing more seriously.
