I teach Oboe, Music Theory and general musicianship.
Tell me about your qualifications.
BA (Hons) in Humanities with Music
Diploma in music - Open University
What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught oboe privately for 20 years and I am a highly experienced orchestral oboist. I also conduct my own semi-professional chamber orchestra which I founded 25 years ago.
How much do you charge?
£25 per hour for tuition at my home base, plus reasonable travel expenses for teaching at students own home.
Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in Tring, Hertfordshire.Tring is on the A41 and the railway station is on the main line from Euston to Milton keynes. I am able to travel to students' homes within a 20 mile radius, including Aylesbury, Hemel hempstead, St.Albans and Watford.
When are you available?
I am available normally on Mondays to Fridays between 9.00am and 6.00 pm except for normal school holidays.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach oboe for students aged 9 and above, with no upper age limit. Tuition from beginner to Grade 8 Associated Board Exams. Music Theory to prepare students for Grade 5 theory exams and general musicianship including history of music.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
My application is being carried out to secure this clearance.
Where and with whom did you train?
I studied oboe privately with Stephen Nagy, professor of oboe at Trinity College of Music, London.
Tell me about some of your current students.
My oboe students have to date always progressed through their grades with merit or distinction and have in some cases secured music scholarships as a result of their abilities.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I have a great passion for music and of course music for the oboe and cor anglais and I want to share this with my students.
