About Sharon
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been performing professionally for many years. I have performed at jazz festivals in the UK and abroad and have worked with some of London's leading jazz musicians. I have worked with various bands and have directed my own groups, including a 9-piece salsa band and my own 6-piece collective. I currently play with the Kamao Quintet and work as a solo pianist and vocalist.
I have taught piano and violin for several years to ages ranging from young children to adults. I have mainly taught privately one-to-one, teaching both classical and jazz. I have also led workshops and large classes in primary and comprehensive schools. As well as instrumental teaching I have tutored students in music theory and composition from beginners to diploma level.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes
- Where and with whom did you train?
I studied violin with Judith Young, Dona Lee Croft, Barry Haskey and Omar Puente. I studied jazz piano and violin with Roland Perrin and have had coaching also from other eminent jazz musicians such as Stan Sultzman, Julian Siegel and Steve Watts.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Musicians Union

I also teach music theory and composition.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Licenciate Diploma from the Welsh College of Music and Drama and a post graduate diploma in jazz performance from Trinity College of Music.
- How much do you charge?
30 pounds per hour
- Where do you teach?
I teach at home.
- When are you available?
I teach Monday to Friday and weekends daytime and evening.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach intermediate to advanced levels 18 yrs upwards.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
My lessons are fun, stimulating and thoroughly enjoyable. As students are all unique and have different motivations, goals and needs, I tailor lessons to suit each individual. Given that music comes form the voice and we are all innately musical, singing, rhythm and movement all form a big part of my teaching. This enables me to nurture their musicianship, in turn allowing their creativity and musicality to blossom
