Interview:
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach GCSE Biology, English, History, Religious Studies and Spanish. I also teach International Baccalaureate Biology, English and History at Higher Level, and can provide Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay guidance.
How much do you charge?
My standard rate is £15 per hour, however I charge £10 per student for group lessons. I own a bus pass that will enable me to travel on Magic and Stagecoach buses, but should I be teaching outside of these zones I would charge bus or train fares in addition to the teaching cost. I am willing to travel anywhere within the Greater Manchester area. I also request that the students provide the appropriate textbooks for lessons.
Where do you teach?
I teach at students' homes, and live in Withington, Manchester. I would also be willing to teach in other locations such as cafes or public libraries.
When are you available?
During term time I am available afternoons and evenings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, evenings on Thursday and Friday, and weekends. I am absent for two weeks over Christmas and New Year, two weeks over the Easter holidays and during the summer.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach ages 5-18, and can teach 11+, 13+, GCSE and International Baccalaureate curriculums.
Do you have a CRB disclosure certificate?
I have a CRB disclosure certificate, obtained in April 2008.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I obtained 8 A*s and 2 As in my GCSEs at Wycombe Abbey School, and 40 points in my International Baccalaureate which I took at UWCSEA in Singapore. I am currently in second year at the University of Manchester, studying Law & Criminology.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have tutored students during sixth form at school. I also have a 16 year old brother who I have been tutoring for his GCSEs, and a 12 year old sister who I recently coached for her 11+ entrance exams.
I have extensive experience working with children; whilst at secondary school I mentored an autistic girl for two years; I volunteered at an HIV+ orphanage for two weeks in Thailand; and I spent three months of this summer (2008) working as a counsellor at a girl scout camp in the USA.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
