Personal Message: I am currently a music student at the University of York. I have had lots of experience teaching both individually and in groups.
Which subject(s) do you teach?: I teach Oboe, Piano, Flute, Cor Anglais, Classical Saxophone and music theory.
Tell me about your qualifications.: I am a first study oboist, studying music at York University.
ABRSM Grade 8 oboe (distinction), saxophone (distinction), piano and voice.
A* music A Level
What kind of experience do you have?: I have worked with my local music service delivering wider opportunities projects in schools - class band projects and world music. From this, I fundraised in my own (secondary) school to buy a samba kit and led a samba band who performed in various festivals and competitions. I am also founder of a wind quintet in my school and now at university providing music, leading rehearsals and organising concerts. I have also taught individual instrumental lessons with a 100% pass rate in all exams.
How much do you charge?: £20 per hour plus travel expenses
Reduced rate for a consultation lesson
Discounts may be available for advance payments or siblings.
Where do you teach?: I live in Heslington, York. I would be able to travel to Doncaster and Leeds and nearby towns or schools.
When are you available?: My schedule varies so I am flexible with negotiating an appropriate time and day to suit a pupils needs and requirements.
Which ages and levels do you teach?: I am willing to teach all ages from beginners to experienced musicians.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?: Yes
Do you have a personal message for students?: My aim through teaching is for you to enjoy your instrument and the performing opportunities that arise from it. Learning an instrument requires hardwork and dedication but it is also a lot of fun and very rewarding. I am willing to teach anybody whether you would like to do exams, learn for fun or are wanting to study music at an advanced level. I am happy to give consultation lessons at a reduced rate if you would like any advice or guidance.

Oboe reeds

Good oboe and cor anglais reeds can be very difficult to find. They can often be expensive if bought from the wrong place and also vary in quality. I have been on various reed making courses so can now help scraping them to the players preference.
