Personal Message
I aim to offer flexible tuition to the needs and interests of the student whether that is to play electric violin in a band taking examinations or giving a recital to an audience.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Violin
Viola
Music theory
Piano (beginners only)
I am also happy to provide extra tuition for GSCE and A Level Music/composition.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I am a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama having also been awarded a Concert Recital Diploma. I am now working towards a Master of Arts at the Royal Academy of Music. I have 4 years teaching experience including private and community work.
What kind of experience do you have?
I was the principal viola of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain where I worked with some of the World's leading conductors and tutors. I have performed at the Royal Albert Hall in the BBC promenade concert series twice, and I am the founder of both the Arnold Camerata and the 'Essentially English' Chamber Music Festival. I taught violin in Grangewood Independent School for 18 months and have also tutored for the London Symphony Orchestras "Discovery" scheme.
How much do you charge?
I charge £30 per hour and £15 per half hour. For Violin, Viola, Theory, Composition and A Level/GSCE Tutoring I am happy to take groups of 4 at £20 per hour per participant.
Where do you teach?
I preferably teach at home in Southfields where I have a specialised music room. I live 6 mins walk from Southfields tube station. I am happy to travel to pupils in the Wandsworth/SW/W London areas.
When are you available?
I can teach most evenings and weekends. I tend to be flexible due to the nature of my course, some weeks are busier than others but I am always willing to make up time.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am happy to help with all levels whether you're a beginner or advanced student even if you're someone who has recently rediscovered a passion for music!
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I generally prepare my students for ABRSM Exams although I am equally happy to prepare pupils for Trinity Guildhall examinations.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
The Arnold Camerata, Royal Academy of Music, The Arion Orchestra and ISM.
Where and with whom did you train?
At Wells Cathedral Specialist Music School with Patricia Noall and then at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Mark Knight.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Music is for everyone; whether it's a way to escape or relax or a great passion, it is here to be enjoyed. If you have ever wished to learn to play you should - you may discover just what you've been missing!
