The Red Light
When I get a student who needs to prepare for their GCSE music performance piece, I always try to simulate what they'll get when the ''red light'' goes on, and being recorded. I used to drill them to death on the chosen piece, so to (hopefully) get them playing all the mistakes before the big day, but then I though of another idea. The main...

Robert took me on as a complete beginner, it's been a lifelong ambition of mine to play the drums, Robert put me at ease and within 20 minutes - got me playing! I can't recommend him enough, a true professional and someone who really cares about your goals, ambitions & equally you worries. - Bill Turner |

Robert is a very enthusiastic teacher and an excellent drummer who is experienced at teaching pupils of all abilities. He is very reliable, with a friendly and approachable teaching style. I would certainly recommend him. - Sue Yeomans - Head of Music |

Robert Bishop's drumming tuition has been excellent. Our son started receiving tuition at age 11 and within 7 months he played publicly in a band for a wedding! He now plays regularly every Sunday in a church worship band. He says Mr. Bishop is 'inspirational' - Reverend Jeremy Sandy |

Some drum teachers can just drill you full of the same routine- Rob works with you to understand what you want to get out of the experience and then figures out how best to explain the mechanics of the basic foundations and techniques needed to build up to the desired level quickly. Very personable and down to earth but equally strict enough to make you realise that you need to practice. Great guy with an attitude to make you remember why you want to do this!!! - Tim Saunders |

I started playing drums a good few years ago, had some lessons with a teacher, but then gave it up. I wanted to start back up, found Rob's number and gave him a call and booked in a lesson. I was astonished at how much I still need to learn, and more importantly - wanted to learn! Rob made me feel at home, feeling at ease asking him questions about anything, he was always happy to answer or demonstrate anything he felt he needed to. - Andy Johnson |

Robert teaches my son, who's now 11, from the age of 9. Rob interspersed joe's favourite tunes from his favourite bands as well as the ''proper'' stuff that Joe needed to learn to improve. Joe loves his lessons, and Rob continually tries to find ways to keep his motivation and focus up. - Katy Sampson |

Rob's wicked. He'll break down ANYTHING you want to play, no matter what it is, and show you that you can do it. You might have to do it 70 times slower than the tune you want to play, but you'll be PLAYING it. I never thought I'd be playing along to my drum n bass tunes I've got, but I am, I still practice as Rob also shows that without it - I'll never improve. he tries to teach me all that notation stuff too. - Wayne Hughes |

Rob's a good friend, I've seen him play many times. when my son wanted to start playing, I knew Rob would look after him. Rob's a fun teacher, relates to a young pupil and explains things in a way that doesn't confuse. And, he makes a lovely cup of tea! - Gary Whitlock |
