- Personal Message
- Everyone can be good at English Literature - all it takes is confidence and a bit of help, and this is what I would like to provide. I'm passionate about English, and hope to inspire students to enjoy English too!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach English from Key Stages 1-3, GCSE and A-Level. I also teach literacy and reading skills at any level, with a clear focus on Key Stages 1 -3. I also offer a proof reading service for all these levels, as sometimes having a pair of fresh eyes read your work makes all the difference!
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have been tutoring for a year now, working with students across a range of ages and abilities; for numerous exam boards and for both public school entrance exams and state school examinations. I have 2:1 English Literature Honours Degree from the University of Exeter, one of the top five universities at which to study English. I graduated in 2010. I also have four A Levels at A grade (including full marks in my English A Level; not bad!) and 11 GCSEs at A* and A grade, and 2 GCSEs at B grade.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- Alongside my year tutoring, I have volunteered in schools for seven years as a teaching assistant, focusing particularly on literacy across various age ranges and abilities. I have also tutored privately for children who are performing above their age's ability in English, to keep them challenged and enjoying English. I was tutored in Maths when I was at primary school; and clearly remember how much the experience improved my ability and confidence, and so can empathise greatly with those I tutor! As a private nanny I am also good with children which certainly helps create a comfortable and secure learning environment.
- How much do you charge?
- My price range increases with the age range:
Key Stage 1 = £15 p/h
Key Stages 2 and 3= £20 p/h
GCSE = £25 p/h
A - Level = £25 p/h
And I also provide a proof reading service at £15 p/h - Where do you teach?
- I am very happy to travel to students' homes around the Ealing, Acton and Chiswick area, for no extra fee. Students are welcome to come to my house, however I do own a pair of rather lively kittens which can make for a rather noisy learning environment, so would prefer to come to the student.
- When are you available?
- I am available on Monday afternoon, all day Wednesday, and Thursday and Friday evenings. Extra study sessions on additional weekday evenings or weekend afternoons can be arranged close to essay deadlines/exam time as and when the student and parent feel they may be helpful!
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach all ages, from 4 through to 18. I am able to teach Key Stages 1-3, GCSE and A-Level English.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I am happy to do SATs preparation for Key Stage 2 and 3; and although I will happily look at the skills required for SATs at Key Stage 1 I do not believe in using past papers as a method of teaching at that age.
I also will provide GCSE and A-Level support and revision help.
I have experience in assisting children preparing for public school entry exams. - Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- No.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- The majority of my work experience has been at St Nicholas-at-Wade Primary School, rated Outstanding in the latest Ofsted report.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- Everyone is good at English; sometimes it just takes a bit of help and attention to allow you to realise this! I had maths tutoring and it helped me no end; and allowed me to realise I could do it! So if you would like a little bit of help, explanation or improvement please do get in contact.

What Should English Literature Be At Key Stage 2?
Every parent knows the stress their children are placed under at school, from a very young age, due to the exam system that exists in our educational circulum. From a time when they should be enjoying learning, they are placed with test papers in front of them, and it can be inhibiting and frightening for pupils and parents alike. English at...

I cannot thank Rosanna enough for all the help provided prior to my GCSE English exam. Rosanna was very friendly, approachable and offered as much help as possible, despite a busy schedule. Her support and tips helped me ever so much! If only all English teachers were of such credential! Once again, I cannot stress how pleased I am of Rosanna and her support!
