- Personal Message
- I am an experienced, versatile and professional piano player with considerable experience of teaching. I am young, committed and enthusiastic in all aspects of music.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Piano performance in Classical, Jazz, Folk, Pop and others on request; Music Theory; General Musicianship and Composition
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- DipABRSM and LRSM (both post-Grade 8 qualifications) in Piano Performance; various Music Scholarships and Awards (please enquire personally for further information). I also have a B.A. (Hons) First Class degree from Warwick University
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I am an experienced solo performer, ensemble player and teacher. I attended a specialist music school (Wells Cathedral School) and gained Specialist Musician status for Piano. Since then I have engaged in numerous musical endeavours during my university life, ranging from Musical Director of sell-out Edinburgh Fringe productions to Operatic repetiteur. I was awarded a prestigious Warwick Music Scholarship in Piano Accompaniment for four years. This role combined leading rehearsals and musical productions, weekly performances and teaching. Additionally, I have been awarded consecutive annual Music Centre Awards for my commitment to music making.
Finally, I was one of 8 nationally-selected musicians to be accepted onto the pilot programme of the Worldwide Appreciation of Music Foundation. In this role, I was a piano teacher at a local school based in New Delhi, India. I taught up to 30 students a day (private and group lessons) for over 2 months. I received extremely positive feedback for my teaching methods and pupil exam success rate (for proof please contact and I can provide you with the details). - How much do you charge?
- My lessons are charged at a very competitive £20 per hour. Lessons will normally be given in batches of 10 (each lesson = half an hour), and I offer a FREE half an hour trial for newcomers.
- Where do you teach?
- I teach at my home in Lichfield, Staffordshire. I can also travel to students' houses if desired at a small extra cost. Areas I can travel to include Whittington, Burntwood, Tamworth, Rugely, Stafford, Sutton Coldfield and the Birmingham area. Please enquire for details!
- When are you available?
- I have various availabilities during the week and weekends. Please speak to me personally to arrange a mutually convenient time.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- Due to my versatile musical training, I can teach all ages from 5-60+, and from grades 1-8.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- For Classical, Jazz and Theory studies I use ABRSM as the basis for examination, although student's preferences are always given priority; please note however that examinations only serve as a framework - I do not make them compulsory in my lessons.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I have a valid Enhanced CRB certificate (2009) and a Police Subject Access check.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- Since setting up on the Tutor Pages I have heard from and started lessons with a number of enthusiastic beginners. Their comments will be up here shortly so you can get a taste of their experience of my lessons.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- Don't be shy just to send me an email - the first step's always the hardest! And remember, there's no obligation to continue lessons - your first one is free and you can decide after that whether you want to continue.

Music Examinations - necessary or uninspiring?
I'm constantly dispirited by the number of people telling me that they don't 'do' music - they either had music lessons and stopped, or didn't ever take up music lessons in the first place. Why is this? Obviously there are economic considerations - some people just can't afford private music lessons. This is very unfortunate. But even for...
