Where and with whom did you train?
I grew up in brass bands as a cornet player from the age of eight. At fourteen I moved to study the trumpet at a specialist school, Chetham's School of Music in Manchester where I completed my GCSE's and A-levels and studied with Gareth Small, principal trumpet of the Hallé Orchestra. I then moved to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Paul Beniston, principal trumpet of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and attained a first class honours degree. I am now studying at the Royal College of Music for a Masters in Performance with Alistair Mackie, principal trumpet of the Philharmonia Orchestra.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I have retained some of my full-time students from East London where I have been involved with the London Symphony Orchestra's outreach scheme 'LSO Discovery'. Most of my current students are aged 8-15 and I see them on a weekly or fortnightly basis, mostly for an hour.
