I am a friendly and encouraging music teacher, who wishes to explore and develop the skills of all my pupils, whether they wish to do music professionally or as a hobby.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I can teach all Brass instruments, the main being the French Horn, Tenor Horn and Trumpet. I can also teach the Piano and Keyboard.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Bmus(hons) in performance on the French Horn, which I did during my time at the Royal Northern College of Music. I have a PGCE in Music with Instrumental Teaching, which I did during a joint course between the Royal Northern College of Music and Manchester Metropolitan University.
I have Grade 8 ABRSM in my main instruments the French Horn, Tenor Horn and Piano.
What kind of experience do you have?
I was a member of the Albermarle Music Centre, were I played the Solo Tenor Horn in the senior Brass Band, Principle Horn in the Symphonic Wind Band and Orchestra, and the Keyboard in the Jazz Band. I have been a member of various different ensembles, such as the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, a guest with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, Yorkshire Youth Orchestra and the Manchester Chamber Orchestra. I gained more ensemble experience during my time at the Royal Northern College of Music, were I played in the Brass Band, Symphony Orchestra, Opera Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and Brand New Orchestra. I play in a Wind Quintet which perform in various venues and deliver workshops in both secondary and primary schools. I have played in the Orchestra pit for various musicals such as Titanic, Oliver and Fiddler on the Roof.
How much do you charge?
I charge £20 for an hour, £15 for 45mins and £10 for half an hour. For group lessons I will discuss prices for the total of students. I will charge for travel depending on the distance, otherwise the cost of the lesson will be the same as mentioned.
Where do you teach?
I am located in Hull but I am willing to travel in the car to areas outside of Hull. I will do my teaching at the students home. I am also available to teach in the Manchester area on a Wednesday evening only.
When are you available?
I am available at weekends and during the week at various times during the day and evening, which can be discussed.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am able to teach all ages and abilities.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students for ABRSM instrumental examinations, but I am willing to change examinations boards to accommodate different students.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
I have a current up-to-date CRB.
