- My name is Sam Thompson and I am currently studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach Clarinet, Saxophone, Flute and Music Theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have completed a Teaching Skills module as part of my degree in music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
I have Grade 8 in Saxophone and Clarinet.
I also have an A at A-level music which covers all Grade 8 theory as well as knowledge obtained on my degree course. - What kind of experience do you have?
- I have taught instruments for several years now as well as gaining a large amount of playing experience both through RWCMD and separately.
I have taught Clarinet and Saxophone at Broughton Music Centre.
I have taught all of my subjects privately.
I help to co-ordinate the project 'Making Music, Changing Lives' in Ely. A large part of this is teaching Woodwind instruments.
I have spent the last three years doing a large amount of Chamber work with The Rosso Ensemble. During this time I have done a vast amount of workshops in school. - How much do you charge?
- £10 per half hour.
£20 per hour.
I don't charge for travel as I get around Cardiff on my bike, provided the distance isn't too great! - Where do you teach?
- I can teach at home or in and around Cardiff, whichever most suits the pupil's needs.
- When are you available?
- I'm available at varying times on most days, please ask for details. I'm sure an arrangement can be made in the majority of circumstances. I will be away during end of term School holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach Clarinet to Grade 8 and beyond.
I teach Saxophone, Flute and Theory up to Grade 8. - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I use the ABRSM syllabus for my students.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I don't sorry. If someone required that I present one before teaching then I would look into getting one.
