Sara Kohnke - Flute Lessons in East/ North London
- Personal Message
- If you're searching for a fun, friendly, and effective teacher to improve your flute skills, then look no further! I'm happy to work with you to accomplish whatever goals you may have for the flute.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Flute and piccolo
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I completed my Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006, and have just finished my Master of Music degree in flute performance (orchestral studies) from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have taught private flute lessons for six years to students ages 9-22. The students' skill levels range from absolute beginners to university-level flautists. I am currently a flute teacher in several primary schools in London, where I teach general musicianship and beginning flute skills. Additionally, I used to be the classroom teacher of general music for students ages 4-10 with hearing impairments. I am more than happy to work with students with any special needs!
- How much do you charge?
- £25.00 for an hour or £15.00 for a half-hour. This price includes travel to locations in zones 2 and 3.
- Where do you teach?
- Mainly in eastern London, but I can easily travel throughout zones 2 and 3. I am willing to travel outside of those zones but will charge the price I pay to travel there and back by tube or train.
- When are you available?
- I am available most evenings and weekends for lessons. It is best if we have a set lesson every week (or bi-weekly, if you'd prefer).
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I am happy to teach all ages, as long as you can reach all the keys of the flute! I am comfortable teaching any skill level on the flute or piccolo as well. I acknowledge that each student may have different goals or priority levels for the flute and am very flexible about adapting the lessons to suit your specific needs.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes
- Where and with whom did you train?
- At the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, I studied with Ian Clarke, Philippa Davies, Sharon Williams, and Sarah Newbold. I have worked in masterclasses with William Bennett (Professor of flute at the Royal Academy of Music), Wil Offermans (popular modern flute composer), Mark Sparks (Principal flutist of St. Louis Symphony Orchestra), Bonita Boyd (Professor of flute at the Eastman School of Music), and Carol Wincenc (Professor of flute at the Juilliard School).
