About Louise
- What kind of experience do you have?
I am currently completing a PGCE in Secondary Music with Specialist Instrument Teaching and have gained experience working in a variety of environments.
Having taught individual, group and wider opportunities instrumental lessons for all ages and abilities, I have gained experience across a range of settings and have also run and directed ensembles.
I have also taught classroom lessons ranging from Years 7-13, including GCSE and A Level preparation.

- Where and with whom did you train?
I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of York, studying Saxophone under Joel Purnell, Sarah Markham and Julian Arguelles.

I am a creative, enthusiastic, and committed person, and bring all of these aspects into my teaching. I have experience teaching all ages and abilities across a range of instruments and settings.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, beginner Oboe and Piano, Music Theory and can also provide tuition for GCSE and A Level Music. I am also happy to work with ensembles and teach group lessons. I am able to teach across all genres with specialisms in Jazz and Classical music, for either enjoyment or graded exams.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I achieved an upper 2:1 degree in Music from the University of York and I am currently completing a PGCE in Secondary Music with Specialist Instrumental Teaching.
DipLCM in Jazz Saxophone.
Grade 8 Saxophone and Clarinet, Grade 5 Flute, Piano and Music Theory.
A Level Music.
- How much do you charge?
All instrumental lessons: £25 per hour (£12.50 for half an hour)
GCSE/A Level/Music Theory tuition: £20 per hour
Reduced rate for consultation lessons.
Discounts may be available for the first lesson, group lessons and advance payments.
Travel expenses of £5 and over will be added to the fee.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in Greater Manchester and would be able to travel to surrounding areas (additional charges may occur). If your county is not named but is nearby, please do not hesitate to contact me as I may still be able to reach you for lessons.
- When are you available?
My schedule varies so I am flexible with negotiating an appropriate day and time to suit a pupils needs. Please contact me for more information.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I am willing to teach all ages and abilities; from beginners to advanced/experienced musicians.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Whether learning for fun or working towards graded exams, my aim is to ensure that you enjoy learning music. I am willing to adapt my teaching methods and styles to accommodate each individual student, so that you get the most you can from each individual lesson while retaining a relaxed environment.
