About Josef
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching for over 12 years now, teaching privately as well as in music schools and schools in Germany.
I taught one to one lessons, small group lessons and conducted a youth orchestra. I taught students of all ages an abilities.
I am able to prepare students for all kind of exams and competitions.
As a performer I play as a soloist and in groups in a variety of genres including classical, jazz and traditional folk music. I have performed with my jazz band in Germany, Austria, Italy and during a 3 weeks tour in China.
I played in an education programme for children with the Munich Philharmonics.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes. Enhanced DBS from Feb. 2015.
- Where and with whom did you train?
The following teachers were very inspirational and important for my career: teachers include: Albert Osterhammer (Universität Mozarteum, Salzburg, Austria, Clarinet), Leszek Zadlo (Hochschule f Musik München, Saxophone), Gerald Preinfalk (Wien, Austria, Saxophone), Bob Minzer (Manhattan School of Music, New York, Saxophone).

Playing music is a very fulfilling activity. As a teacher I accompany my students on their musical way and give them the guidance they need that enables them to to play the music they like on the instrument they love.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
Clarinet and Saxophone, both jazz and classical. I also teach jazz improvisation and music theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a masters degree in Music Education of the University of Regensburg, Germany. My main subjects are clarinet and saxophone. I also have a degree in piano, singing and organ. I participated in different summer academies including the Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA), Klagenfurt (Austria) and Milstadt (Austria).
- How much do you charge?
First lesson will be free.
£30 for 60 min.
£25 for 45 min
£20 for 30 min.
Group lessons get discount.
Travel costs to student's home apply separately (Oyster Fares)
- Where do you teach?
I teach at home in my living-room studio (equipped with a piano) and I am also willing to travel to students' homes.
Travelling to nearby areas: Hackney, Islington, Newham, Camden, Tower Hamlets, Westminster
- When are you available?
I teach on weekdays but please feel free to ask when you have special wishes and I will try my best to make it possible.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
all ages and all levels. Please contact me if you are not sure about ability to play any of my provided instruments. I also offer very first lessons even if you don't have an own instrument yet.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare my students for either ABRSM exams or Trinity Guildhall exams. However it is up to the student whether they want to take them
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Playing music is a very fulfilling activity no matter if you do it on your own or together with somebody. As a teacher I accompany my students on their musical way and give them the guidance they need that enables them to to play the music they want on the instrument they love. As a forward thinking teacher my strategy is to develop a personal practising culture within that the student is comfortable and motivated in developing his or her musical personality.
