- Personal Message
- I am an enthusiastic teacher with experience in teaching pupils of all ages and levels. I am passionate about teaching and want all of my students to excel.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach piano from complete beginner up to Diploma level and beyond. I can guide students through the ABRSM (or Trinity) grading system for practical and theory exams. However, I am also happy to teach students who do not wish to study for Grades.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I studied at the Junior Academy with Graham Caskie for four years and I have spent the last four years as a full time student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I am currently a teacher at Fortismere Music School and Wanstead Music School. I have taught children and adults of all ages and varying abilities. I have lots of performance experience as a pianist and have performed at St. Martin in the Fields, the Wigmore Hall (Masterclass with Stephen Hough), St.James Piccadilly, Bluthner Pianos in Westminster and Cheltenham International Music Festival (Town Hall) among other venues. I have coached Chamber music at Schools and also given masterclasses to advanced level pupils.
- How much do you charge?
- I charge £30 per hour plus £5 extra if I have to travel to the student - this includes theory lessons. £30 for 45 mins, £25 for 30 mins (both inc. travel). Students in the same household can have 90 minutes for £50 or £60 for two hours.
- Where do you teach?
- I teach from home but am happy to travel to students houses within zones 1 - 3. Possibly zone 4 if it takes a similar amount of time. Finsbury Park, Crouch End, Muswell Hill, Finchley and Highbury are all with in easy access.
- When are you available?
- I am available most days including the evenings and weekends. Saturdays I am teaching at Fortismere until 3pm and Tuesday I cannot teach after 3pm as I am teaching at Wanstead Music School.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach all ages and levels.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I like to have my students study what is right for them, each pupil is different. Some of my students are studying for ABRSM Grades and others prefer to develop their skill without grades. I can teach to Grade 8 and post Diploma level. My sole purpose is to get my students to immerse themselves in music and gain a thorough understanding of piano playing.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- I am happy to talk over the phone about practical problems. I can help with theory by email/phone also.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- ISM
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I studied with Ray Alston (ARCM), Cathy Riley (ARCM), Graham Caskie (ARCM) at the Junior Academy for four years and I am currently training with Caroline Palmer at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- The piano is a great instrument with a huge scope of musical possibility. I began playing from a young age and I know it helped me in many different areas of my life other than music. The piano requires great coordination and concentration and brain power. If you are a parent looking for lessons for your child, the piano is a great, fun way to teach them to concentrate. The piano has been shown to help students in maths but also in foreign languages as ones ear will be used to listening very carefully to the nuances within music. If you are an adult who has always wished s/he had started before, it is never too late and I promise that if you are keen, it will enrich your life forever.

Music for Enjoyment
The most important aspect of studying the piano is enjoyment and interest. When one is young, it sometimes takes a little while to find this. I know from my experience that it took a year or so for the inspiration to kick in but when it did, it never went away. However, the inspiration does not always come from the teacher. It is extremely...
