Personal Message: I have always believed that music lessons should be fun and aim to leave my students feeling motivated and inspired to work hard.
Which subject(s) do you teach?: Drum kit
Tell me about your qualifications.: I graduated from Liverpool University in 2011 with a BA(Hons) in Popular Music.
What kind of experience do you have?: I have several years experience performing as a session drummer and percussionist including work in all genres: pop, funk and soul, r&b, big band jazz, Cuban, theatrical productions and recording work. I have played throughout the UK and in Europe, and I am currently working with up and coming London based singer songwriter Felix Hagan and devonshire based Dave Harbottle and the Friendly Cats. I also work for PR and Events Company Itchy Feet with The Hurricanes.
How much do you charge?: I charge £20 per 60mins and £12 per 30mins if you travel to me. I charge extra if I travel to you. Consultation lessons are half price and group discounts are negotiable.
Where do you teach?: I am happy to teach from home and/or at students' homes - whatever is easiest for the student. I currently live near Musselburgh, East Lothian, but I have a full UK driving licence and I am happy to drive to surrounding areas.
When are you available?: As a freelancer, my timetable is very flexible. Depending completely on what the student wants, fixed or variable times can be organised.
Which ages and levels do you teach?: I teach students of all ages and standards.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?: I am familiar with both the Rock School and Trinity Guildhall syllabuses.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?: Yes
Where and with whom did you train?: I studied at the Institute of Popular Music at the University of Liverpool with Simon Stafford (a multi instrumentalist who has performed with Florence and the Machine, Duffy and Jarvis Cocker) and Tilo Pirnbaum (renowned jazz drummer from Germany).

A sense of groove and an underlying pulse are fundamental for a successful performance. It is the drummer's responsibility to maintain this. People often forget the importance of listening: it is vital that all musicians learn to communicate and interact with one another at all times.
