About Rosie
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have worked for nearly eight years in a variety of settings (privately, schools and cathedral), planning and teaching singing lessons to children aged 5-18 and adults. I have maintained 100% pass rate for students prepared and entered for ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall and LCM singing exams. I am experienced in preparing students for GCSE performances, school concerts, performances in local competitive festivals, helping them to achieve successful results. I am an active performer and communicate my passion for singing to all of my students.

- Where and with whom did you train?
I have recently completed my Musical Theatre Training at Associated Studios studying with Leontine Hass and Kathy Taylor-Jones. Before that, I studied privately with international opera singer Yvonne Kenny.
My MA course was coached by Robert Hollingworth with individual singing coaching from Susan Young.
I studied with Vivien Pike throughout my undergraduate studies at the University of Sheffield and Hazel Wood at Birkbeck College before I started my degree.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of the Association of Teachers of Singing (AOTOS) and completed their residential singing teacher training course in August 2010. I am also a member of the Incorporated Society if Musicians (ISM) and Equity.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I have prepared students for GCSE performances, school concerts, performances in local competitive festivals helping them to achieve successful results and maintained 100% pass rate for students prepared and entered for ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall and LCM singing exams.
I assess my students' progress informally, evaluating the learning experience and providing verbal or written reports for parents of my students; providing students with framework for continued improvement.

I am a professional singer/actor and singing teacher with 8 years of teaching experience. My lessons are always learner-centred: I want to help students achieve their potential, develop good vocal technique and enjoy themselves!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Classical Singing, Musical Theatre and Pop/Jazz Singing. In all styles of singing, I focus on establishing a healthy and reliable vocal technique while encouraging creativity and effective interpretation of the music.
I also teach Music theory and have prepared students for ABRSM Grade 5 theory examinations and give additional support to GCSE and A-level Music students.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
After working as a classical singer for 6 years, I have recently completed a one year full time training diploma in Musical Theatre at Associated Studios in London.
I have an MA in Music (Solo Voice Ensemble Singing) with Robert Hollingworth (director of I Fagiolini) at the University of York. This highly specialised performance course has trained me as a skilled solo voice ensemble singer. I passed an MA module in Music Pedagogy as part of this degree.
I completed the Association of Teachers of Singing's teacher training course in August 2010.
I have a BMus in Music, first class honours, specialising in Classical Vocal performance from the University of Sheffield. I also have a Foundation Certificate in performance studies: Concert Singing (merit) from Birkbeck College, University of London and ABRSM Grade 8 singing.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £40 for 60 minute lessons, £30 for 45 minute lessons and £20 for 30 minute lessons.
- Where do you teach?
I am based in Chiswick. I can travel to students houses if they have a piano/keyboard. I teach in West and South West London (Chiswick, Hammersmith, Fulham, Acton, Ealing, Putney, Chelsea, Kensington).
I also teach 1 afternoon a week in Golders Green, North West London
which is easily accessible from Hendon, Hampstead, Belsize Park and Finchley Road.
Alternatively, I can teach at Jacques Samuels Pianos on Edgware Road or at Dance Attic in Fulham. I am willing to travel to most parts of London as long as I can get there on public transport.
- When are you available?
I have a flexible schedule with regular 'after school' slots available and day time/weekend availability. Please contact me for further details.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages, beginners to advanced.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
If I feel it will help a student's development, I prepare them to take ABRSM or Trinity Guildhall Singing Examinations, ABRSM Music Theory Examinations and LCM Musical Theatre Examinations. I also have a lot of experience of preparing students for GCSE Music performance assessments and auditions for drama school or music college.
