Personal Message
I have been passionate about both education and music from an early age, and decided as a teenager that I wanted to train as a woodwind tutor.

I have been playing the oboe since I was 12, when I was offered the chance to take up a woodwind instrument at high school. I went on to gain an honours degree from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, and I am just about to complete my Masters at Trinity Laban (formerly Trinity College of Music).

I work with students of all ages, and am happy to teach those who wish to learn simply for fun, as well as those who wish to be entered for exams. My lessons are tailored towards each individual student's interests and needs.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I mainly teach oboe up to and beyond Grade 8 level and music theory up to Grade 6 (including basic harmony). I am also happy to tutor students working towards GCSE and A level music exams.
Tell me about your qualifications.
BMus (Hons) in Performance - Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama
MMus in Performance (pending examination results) - Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching for 7 years, both in schools and privately. I currently teach in local schools for Lewisham Music Service and in Blackheath High School (GDST), in addition to my private teaching. In have also led school ensembles in rehearsals and concerts. I have previous experience in teaching flute, clarinet and recorder, as well as oboe, and I have observed lessons being given in all of the main woodwind instruments. I have also tutored in various other subjects aside from music - mainly English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.
How much do you charge?
£25 per hour, when teaching from my home. A supplement will be charged to cover travel expenses if lessons take place in your home or other locations.
Where do you teach?
I teach mainly from home, in Lewisham. There are good travel links to this areas and it is convenient for those living in and around areas such as Beckenham, Blackheath, Brockley, Catford, Dulwich, Forest Hill, Greenwich, New Cross, and Sydenham. I am willing to travel to students living in these and other areas. A supplement will be charged in order to cover travel expenses.

Tell me about some of your current students.
One of my students, aged 12, recently gained a distinction in her ABRSM Grade 2 oboe exam. She has been learning with me since she took up the oboe, 18 months ago.

Several students whom I have tutored for 11+ exams have received places at their first choice school; often they have been offered scholarships.
