Personal Message
Mathematics can be seen at work everywhere in the world around us. My job is to open your eyes to this and give you an incentive to learn how and why this statement is true.
Interview
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold a First Class Masters Degree, with Honours, in Mathematics.
I am currently studying for a PhD in Mathematics (Theoretical Mechanics)
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been privately tutoring for the last 3 years and have had very positive feedback from my tutees and their parents. I have also spent some time working in Hadden Park school in Bilborough as a teaching assistant with children aged 11-16. I have also spent the last year working as a student ambassador for the University of Nottingham, working both on and off site with pupils ages 11-18 at various events held by the university. This includes visiting schools and hosting events on campus to engage with students and encourage them to consider Higher Education.
How much do you charge?
£25 per hour for either subject.
Where do you teach?
I teach primarily in Nottingham, but am willing to travel to smaller towns/villages in close proximity to Nottingham.
When are you available?
I am currently only available on Monday evenings, but can be flexible for keen students!
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach A-Level, so generally ages 16-18.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am an associate member of the British Society of Rheology.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I currently have a Foundation Level GCSE student in year 11, who is looking to achieve a C grade (maximum possible at Foundation Level). I also have a first year A Level student, who I also tutored for GCSE. Having done very well at GCSE, he decided to tackle the A Level with my support.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Everyone's path to understanding the mathematics of the world around them is different. I use a unique technique for each of my students to develop their understanding in a way that is best suited for them.
