About Virginie
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have 25 years of experience in Education in a variety of settings. I worked as a tutor at the French Institute in London (7 years) and as lecturer for the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (11 years). I have worked in the primary and secondary school sectors in France and in Adult Education in England. I have taught language courses at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. I have delivered accredited courses: GCSE, A Level, DELF and DALF examination courses.
I have also tutored privately on a one to one basis preparing students for GCSE and A level examinations but also coaching to prepare for job and university interviews in French. In addition, I have worked for the University Of Southern Mississippi in France. I taught French language and French History to undergraduate American students. This led to validation of part of their degree: all students succeeded with high marks and rated the experience as very enriching linguistically and culturally.

I have a valid DBS certificate, dated April 2015.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I currently teach 8 year olds in West London.
I have two private guitar pupils, aged 8 and 9.
I also have two students (one 17 year-old girl and one 16 year-old boy) whom I teach on line, for exam preparation (IB and IGCSE respectively).

I am a native French speaker, linguist and musician. I have 25 years of experience in Education, as a classroom teacher and private tutor. I am passionate about teaching and always strive to provide the best learning experience for all my students.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach French, guitar and song-writing.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Degree in English Language and Literature from the Sorbonne in Paris.
I have also completed a training course for teaching in Adult Education.
- How much do you charge?
£35 per hour + fares if outside my area (if it involves a tube journey).
This is for one-to-one tuition; for two pupils: £40 per hour.
I offer a free online 30-minute trial lesson.
- Where do you teach?
I currently teach a year 3 equivalent class at a French school in West London, I also teach French in North London and can teach online via an online tutoring platform.
I teach guitar and song-writing at my place in Tufnell Park, where I have facilities for music tuition (soundproofing and recording facilities).
- When are you available?
I am available Tuesday to Friday afternoons and Saturday afternoon.

For French: GCSE, A level French, French Baccalaureat, International Baccalaureat.
I do not prepare my music students for grades.

I can teach on Skype, or on Evo Tuition (online tutoring platform).
I have a tablet for writing and posting notes to support the lesson.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I constantly evaluate my performance and question my skills as a teacher and as an individual. I am aware of the importance of clearly constructed and suitably challenging lesson plans, clear aims and objectives and the importance of being sensitive and receptive to my students' desires and needs. I use a variety of teaching methods, and make students' needs my priority when planning activities and devising or researching new materials. I have a positive, reassuring and encouraging attitude during lessons and keep track of students' progress. I pay a lot of attention to the learning environment and comfort of the learner and provide constructive feedback. I look forward to hearing from you.
