Tell me about some of your current students.
I enjoy working with students of various levels, backgrounds and methods. In the beginning I usually assess what the needs and expectations of the student are and once the direction set, we start work. I emphasize the basics - beauty of tone, unity of the body and instrument, free and comfortable breathing and the vocal quality of the tone of the flute, which I think is what a lot of us are attracted to about the flute. I believe that no matter how 'musically' one wants to play, he also has to have the right tools to express that music with, and to have a vision or an idea behind every note played, a balance between logical and emotional in grounding of your musical ideas.
