What kind of experience do you have?
I have been working as a tutor for over three years where I have been tutoring students at three main levels - GCSEs, A/Ls and University. I have also been a teacher for some time at my sixth-form where I taught Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics for GCE A/L students. I could not continue teaching there because I had to continue my higher education. More recently, I have been tutoring Further Mathematics at Khalsa College, London.
Tutor agencies I work for include First-tutors, UK-tutors, Hometutors, Active-tutors and Fleet-tutors.
How much do you charge?
For 1 hour tuition classes, I charge an additional £5 for travel to tutees' homes (this does not apply to 2 hour tutoring sessions).
There will be an additional £15/hour for group of 2 students and an additional £30/hour for group of 3 or more students.*
*I do not teach more than 6 students at a time to ensure high individual attention.
Where do you teach?
I teach at my place of stay and at students' homes (located all over London and Berkshire)
When are you available?
I am available to tutor throughout the week (weekdays+weekends) from early morning to late evening (however, lessons will be held during mutually-convenient times).
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach students of various ages and levels - ranging from GCSEs and A-levels to Postgraduate level.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
No, I havent taken a CRB check as yet! This is not a legal requirement for tutors. However, the contact details of my past/current students will be given as reference if requested.
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Associate Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
Associate Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS)
Tell me about some of your current students.
1) Yousuf - Reading Level 2 Mechanical Engineering at University College London. He achieved A-B Grades for maths and advanced maths for the past two academic years.
2) Joe - Currently on a gap year after taking his A-levels. He decided to retake his A-levels maths (due to unsatisfactory performance in the first sitting) and also study A-level further maths privately under my supervision during this gap year. He attained an 'A' grade for maths and 'B' for further maths. He has now got an unconditional offer from the University of Sussex to do BSc. Mathematics starting Oct '09.
3) Omar - I am currently tutoring him A-level maths and physics for his upcoming exams in Jan and May 2010. He is hoping to pursue MEng. Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial College, London.
I have got many other students at various ages/levels. These students have been very happy to work with me. The majority (about 70%) of my students have attained 'A' grade in subjects which I have helped them with. The rest have attained 'B' and 'C' (minority) grades. There have not been any grades lower than a 'C' ever since I have been a tutor. I think this is a phenomenal record and I have been working hard to keep this standard of teaching at its highest level.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Student life is the easiest, enjoyable and most important part of modern life. So be focused and keep on working hard!
Working Hard and Effectively is the Key to Success
Further Maths has always been of an exceptional standard at A-Level. The key to success in this subject is to try hard, and most importantly to do this effectively. I sat my Edexcel A-Level Further Maths examinations a few years ago and encountered the same difficulties that most of you out...
