- Hi, my name is Xenia and I perform as a freelance violinist and teach privately. I really enjoy my job, it is such a wonderful feeling when you help people reach their potentials and achieve their goals.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Violin and Piano
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have a Diploma in Performance and a Teaching Qualification.
I have finished musical college in Greece, where I come from and studied in Budapest, Graz and Vienna. - What kind of experience do you have?
- I have 16 years of teaching experience with little ones as young as 3 (!) all the way up to Diploma level. I also have a few mature students.
- How much do you charge?
- I charge £36 per hour and the first consultation lesson is free of charge. Most of the lessons last half an hour though.
I am happy to travel and the additional cost depends very much on the distance. - Where do you teach?
- I teach at home in Twyford, Hampshire but am willing to travel to students home in the surrounding areas if absolutely necessary.
Twyford is close by to Winchester, Chandlers Ford, Fair Oak, Southampton, Eastleigh, Kings Worthy, Sutton Scotney, South Wonston etc. - When are you available?
- I am available during the week and on Saturday mornings. Normally term time but am happy to teach over the holidays if required.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- My youngest is 3 and my oldest is ?? I never asked!
I teach from beginners all the way up to diploma - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I tend to use the ABRSM exam board
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes, I am CRB checked. I was last checked by a Lingards a private Music Service

- Where and with whom did you train?
- I trained with Noel dos santos Cabritos and Rumena Georgieva in Greece, Vilmos Szabadi in Budapest, Christos Polyzoides and Boris Kushnir in Graz, Ulrike Danhofer in Vienna and Sophie Langdon in the UK.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- Keep persevering no matter how tough you think things are ( it half as bad most of the times). It will be worth it at the end and you will emerge with a big smile.

Practice makes perfect? Well, yes it does but even if you are not necessarily striving for perfection it will help you to establish and reinforce what you have learned in the lesson and also help your brain and your body memorise the actions needed to achieve a task. Don't binge work! Even if you haven't got much time to practise it is...
