Which subject(s) do you teach?
Mathematics and Statistics.

Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Maths degree from the University of Warwick (2:1 MMath Hons obatined in 2000). This is a four year course - essentially a BSc with an extra year added on at the end which allows students more scope to investigate a broader range of subjects or develop a deeper understanding of certain topics.
I also hold a master's level qualification in Manufacturing from Cranfield University and a Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector qualification.

What kind of experience do you have?
I have been tutoring since January 2008 and have worked with over 70 students in that time. The majority of these students have been GCSE and AS and A2 students.

How much do you charge?
£25 per hour with a £5 travelling fee if I travel outside of Stratford upon Avon.
Discounts for pre-paid blocks of lessons are available.

Where do you teach?
At my home or at the student's home. I generally only accept older students (Yr 11 and older) in my home. I teach in and around Stratford upon Avon mainly. But I also travel to Alcester, Welford on Avon, Bidford on Avon, Temple Grafton, Broom, Ettington, Henley in Arden and Snitterfield. I am willing to travel up to 8 miles outside of Stratford.

When are you available?
Anytime. Until September 6th I am able to tutor during the day. I am usually available on weekends - weekday evenings can be very busy for me.

Which ages and levels do you teach?
Ages 10-adult. All levels. With regard to A-level modules, I can help with Core 1, 2, 3 and 4; Mechanics 1 and 2; Statistics 1 and Decision 1. I am also able to help with Further Maths, AEA and STEP papers.

Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes. I am happy to provide this for inspection upon request.

Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Not available.

Do you belong to any professional organisations?
No.

Where and with whom did you train?
Please see my list of qualifications. I will be starting a teacher training course with the University of Warwick in September 2010. This is a GTP course which means I will be spending four days in a school and one day at university per week. I have recently spent time in three different local schools and have loved every minute of it. I am returning to one of those schools to do my teacher training in September 2010.

Tell me about some of your current students.
I currently have students in every year group between Yr 6 and Yr 13 inclusive. I teach students from both comprehensives and grammar schools. I also have experience in lesson planning as three of my students currently do not attend formal maths lessons (for differing reasons) so I have had to design schemes of work for them. Favourite students... I don't really have any! But I tend to like the ones who really try hard despite not really enjoying the subject or the ones who are really inquisitive about the subject.

Do you have a personal message for students?
Tutoring is not like normal maths lessons. I expect you to work hard - you won't just sit back and listen to me for an hour. The more you do the more you will get out of our time together and the more you will enjoy them. Don't be afraid of making mistakes - it's all part of the learning process and don't worry if you don't understand something straight away. It often takes time for our brains to make sense of new ideas, concepts and knowledge.
