- I love teaching. Am patience and understanding. Having brought pupils through KS3, GCSE and A-level, I am fully aware of the challenges the current syllabuses present and common problems for students.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- With a passion for science, especially Physics, and Maths coupled with my previous career working in the space program, I have been able to inspire my pupils and bring the very best out of them. As a professional teacher, I have taught Physics, Chemistry and Biology up to GCSE level and have specialised in teaching A-level Physics and Mathematics. I am also happy to tutor students preparing for 11+ and 13+ exams or younger students looking to improve confidence their own abilities.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I gained my PhD in regenerative medicine (specializing in tissue engineering of bone tissue) from Imperial College London in 2001. In addition, I have an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from Cranfield University, and a BEng(Hons) in Materials Science and Engineering from Imperial College London.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have worked in independent secondary schools for 2-years teaching A-Level Physics and Mathematics (Edexcel, OCR, AQA), GCSE Physics and Mathematics (AQA), KS3 Science. I have taught and mentored many prospective Oxbridge candidates and have successfully tutored pupils in A-level and GCSE Physics and Mathematics. I have a previous background as a research scientist at Imperial College London and as a Mission Scientist and Payload Engineer at the European Space Agency. This research and industrial engineering background makes me a passionate advocate for Physics and Maths and allows me to bring real life experiences into my tutoring.
- How much do you charge?
- I charge £35 per hour for A-Level, £30 per hour for GCSE, and £25 per hour for KS3. All potential students get one lesson free of charge with no obligation.
- Where do you teach?
- I teach at students' homes. I regularly travel to Wimbledon, Merton Park, Sutton, Carshalton, Cheam, Wallington, Kingston, Wandsworth and Epsom.
- When are you available?
- All sessions take place at weekends and evenings during the week. I am flexible especially during school holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach A-Level, GCSE and key-stage 3. I have also experience teaching A-level Applied Science. I have been able to include my industrial experiences as a former engineer at the European Space Agency enabling me to inspire my students and bring topics into ‘real-life’ perspective.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes, I have full enhanced disclosure as I have worked in schools.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- I am currently being proposed as a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society
Member, International Society for Gravitational Physiology
Member, European and American Bioceramics Society
