- I enjoy Maths and love teaching. I was the Mathematics head teacher in a private school for 9 years and having been tutoring for 15 years. I am a fully qualified Maths teacher.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach GCSE Maths,Science and Geography, and AS and A level Maths.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have a degree in Education, Major in TESOL, and a diploma in Electronics Engineering.
My strength is my ability to give clear explanations even in the hardest areas (including exam technique), to spot logical patterns to make learning easier and to give memorable examples to help understanding.
My Maths explanations are also very clear and I use very understandable words and methods.
Another strong point of mine is that I can identify where the student began to struggle and to then put it right from that point forward.
I was educated in Singapore where the education standard is world class, and I am therefore very competent in Maths. - What kind of experience do you have?
- I have been teaching Maths since 1996 and have taught one to one as well as in classrooms. I have been the head of the Maths department in Academies Australasia, a prestigious private school in Singapore and was a government registered school teacher in Singapore.
- How much do you charge?
- My basic rate is £18/hr. If I have to go to the student, a small transport fee may be added depending on where you live. Group discount is available for 2 or more students.
- Where do you teach?
- I teach both at home or at tutees' homes. I can travel up to 15 mins drive from my place.
- When are you available?
- All times of the week, except Sundays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I am an experienced and enthusiastic tutor, working with children from Primary level up to age 18, including preparing pupils for the 11+, Entrance Exams and Scholarships to Private Schools, English KS3 and Maths GCSE and A level.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- GCSE and A level.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Not yet.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- I am a qualified teacher.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- I have 9 students at the moment from age 14 to 17. After the first lesson, they all have said they feel more confident in Maths and now enjoy it! Please also look at the testimonials.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- Confidence or the lack of it is the problem I encounter most in students. If you miss things, get behind or just can't follow your schoolteacher it becomes hard to enjoy lessons. Once you start to dislike a subject it gets harder and if you don't do well, it seems difficult to regain confidence. Start getting help as soon as possible.
