Which subject(s) do you teach?
I specialise in teaching mathematics only. I have taught A level mathematics from all the major examining boards - EDEXCEL, AQA, OCR and OCR MEI. I have experience of teaching the followiing A level modules: C1, C2, C3, C4, S1, S2, M1, M2, D1, D2, FP1, FP2, FP3, FP4. I have also begun helping to prepare for the STEP and AEA examinations.

Tell me about your qualifications.
I am an Imperial College graduate with a BSc and MSc in Pure Mathematics.

What kind of experience do you have?
I have 10 years teaching experience, as well as several years experience as an A level examiner for OCR.

How much do you charge?
I normally charge £30 per hour. The price would still be £30 in total for a group of students studying the same topic at the same level, so I am happy for students to share the cost of £30 in such cases. In other cases, the price would be negotiable.
I sometimes make home visits, especially for students who wish to have two hour lessons. In such cases, I would have to charge public transport travel costs, plus extra for time and incovenience,

Where do you teach?
I normally teach from home. I find this ensures that the lesson is of very high quality, as I have all my resources at hand (eg; textbooks, past papers), and the workspace is always quiet and comfortable. I also sometimes teach at the student's home.

When are you available?
Any day after 3pm, but availability may vary due to other students. I am also available to teach in the holidays.

Which ages and levels do you teach?
I only teach A level maths, further maths and beyond at the moment. I have taught pupils of all ages and abilities, including mature students, whose enthusiasm I find refreshing. I have also taught students whose first language is not english.

Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
A level mathematics and further mathematics, IB mathematics. I also tutor some undergraduate maths (mainly algebra and analysis). I have also begun to coach for the STEP and AEA exams.

Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes

Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am considering tutoring by SKYPE, and am willing to venture into this new area of tutoring if a student wishes

Do you belong to any professional organisations?
ARCS (associate membership of Royal College of Science)

Tell me about some of your current students.
Many of my past students have achieved A/A* in their maths exams, and many have gone on to study at top universities such as Leeds, some even to study medicine. I have had students from many local schools and colleges, including Latymer and Woodhouse, as well as pupils of private school. I also have taught mature students and foreign students.

Do you have a personal message for students?
I think a good grade for A level maths is within most people's reach, so long as you get a good grasp of the concepts, and practice enough relevant questions. In my lessons, a student has no option but to get involved, thinking, and solving problems. My aim is to get the student to a standard where they do not need my help at all to tackle the exam problems. I try to adapt my teaching style to the pupil's learning style.
