- I am a Cello and Piano teacher based in Paddock Wood near Tunbridge Wells. I am experienced, enthusiastic and passionate about my instruments.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach the Cello and the Piano.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I graduated from the Royal College of Music in July 2009 with a BMus(Hons) 2:1 Music degree having studied under both Leonid Gorokhov and Alice Neary. I have played in a number of master classes given by Rafael Wallfisch, Gregor Horsch and Marc Coppey as well as receiving lessons from Paul Watkins and Emma Ferrand.
During my time at the Royal College of Music I was a regular member of the Symphony and Sinfonietta Orchestras as well as Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra. I play with the Orpheus Sinfonia and recently co-led the Orion Symphony Orchestra. Orchestral Highlights include playing under the direction of Bernard Haitink, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Martin André and Sir Roger Norrington.
I am also a member of the Ealing String Quartet which frequently performs in London. Engagements have included playing at Clarence House as well as regular appearances at the National Gallery.
I have also participated in a variety of Outreach and Education projects including working with English Touring Opera as part of their ‘Voices of the Future’ Project staged at the Royal Opera House as well as working regularly with the Royal College of Music as part of their Outreach program. - What kind of experience do you have?
- Having graduated from the Royal College of Music in London I have had a number of teaching posts. I am currently teaching at Tunbridge Wells Girls' Grammar School as Cello and Piano teacher, Northolt High School as Cello teacher and Questors Young Musicians Club as Cello Teacher. These are posts that I have held since leaving the Royal College of Music in 2009. I have also taught privately for over three years.
- How much do you charge?
- £25 for 1 hour
£20 for 45 mins
£15 for 30 mins - Where do you teach?
- I teach at my home near Paddock Wood which is a 20 minute drive from Tunbridge Wells.
I am happy to travel within a 20 mile radius from my home. - When are you available?
- I am fairly flexible as to when I can teach. Times can be arranged during the week or weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach all ages and levels on both the Cello and the Piano.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I prepare students for ABRSM graded music exams.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I studied at the Royal College of Music in London under Cellists Leonid Gorokhov and Alice Neary.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- Learning to play an instrument is a hugely fulfilling experience, whether it be performing, playing with other musicians or simply playing for your own pleasure. I am an enthusiastic teacher whose aim is to make music making an enjoyable, rewarding and ultimately inspiring experience.
