Teaching is something which I really enjoy, and whatever your age, ability and aspirations, I want you to look forward to each of your lessons because of the enjoyment and sense of achievement which they will bring.

Tell me about your qualifications.
Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours in clarinet performance, Royal Academy of Music.
Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music, teaching diploma.
Grade 8 Clarinet (high honours), Grade 8 Piano (distinction), Grade 7 Theory of Music.
Masters of Performance, due to graduate June 2014 from the Royal College of Music.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching privately since 2008, from ages 3 - adult, and also work for a teaching agency (private and group teaching).
I take students through ABRSM exams, if they wish, and I accompany my students in exams if appropriate.
I have additional experience working with children ; National Children's Orchestra, Music Works, and various outreach projects.
Chamber music experience includes CharterHouse international music festival 2011, playing for the Aidan Woodcock Charitable trust, Schwetsingen Festspiele 2012, and several chamber music groups with whom I perform regularly.
Performance experience inclues English Touring Opera, Julliard School / Royal Academy of Music collaborative Orchestral performances in New York and London, performance of Boulez "Domaines" for solo clarinet and ensemble at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and London Symphony Orchestra Saint Luke's Academy.
How much do you charge?
£35 per hour for individual lessons (£23 for half hour) if i teach at home. If travelling to the student's house, there will be an additional cost (depending on distance/fares).
For chamber music coaching I charge £40 an hour.
For group lessons rates will be lower, and negotiable depending on the size of the group.
Where do you teach?
I currently teach both at home and at my students' houses.
I can travel easily to teach in Streatham, Norwood, Tulse Hill and Crystal Palace,
When are you available?
My timetable is very flexible, and it will most often be possible for me to fit in around the requirements of my students. I can teach anytime of day ; early mornings and later evenings are no problem.
I am also happy to teach during the school holidays, and provide any extra lessons at short notice if I can. Please get in touch and I'm sure we can find a mutually convenient time.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
On the Clarinet I teach all levels, beginner to very advanced.
On the Piano and and Saxophone I teach up to grade 6 level.
I can provide aural tutoring up to the grade 8 standard, and theory of music up to grade 7.
I coach chamber music of all standards and sizes
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
If they so wish, I take my students through the graded ABRSM exams (classical as specified above and jazz up to Grade 5)
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, November 2011
Where and with whom did you train?
I received excellent training on piano and clarinet at the junior RCM, before going to Wells Cathedral School where I also studied Saxophone.
During my Bmus degree at the Royal Academy of Music I studied clarinet with renowned performers and teachers ; Angela Malsbury and Mark van Wiel. I also spent some time studying on an exchange in Paris, with Pascal Moragues.
I am currently completing my masters degree at the Royal College of Music, studying with Timothy Lines, Barnaby Robson, and Paul Richards.
Tell me about some of your current students.
For my younger students I like to arrange tunes/songs that they will know (often on request) and teach them by ear. Recent successes include Star Wars theme for a new 6 year old pianist, the Smurf Song and Mario land theme for a couple of 7 year olds, Pirates of the Carribean, Harry potter, Mission Impossible, Mario Land, Star Wars et cetera.

I think it is important to make music with my students as much as possible, teaching them to listen whilst playing and inspiring them, so I frequently play duets, or accompany my students on piano (including in exams).
Do you have a personal message for students?
If you study with me I'll enjoy hearing you play and working with you , whatever your musical background or level of experience. I am an enthusiastic teacher and always happy to be flexible, to progress at a pace that suits you, and ensure that you are happy with what you are learning.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch.
