- Hi! I have 15 years of professional singing experience and really enjoy teaching singing and piano. Whether a complete beginner or aspiring professional I can help develop your technique which will enable you to sing for longer and more pleasurably.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach singing, beginner's piano and music theory and academic music up to A Level
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- My highest formal qualifications are an MMus in vocal studies from Trinity College of Music and an MA in music from Cambridge University. I also have ABRSM grade 7 piano and accompany my pupils' singing.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I work full time as a professional singer and musician, based in London, and have almost of lifetime of high-level singing and music making experience. Whether you are interested in pop singing, musical theatre , art song or opera I have the experience to help you.
- How much do you charge?
- I charge £30p/h except proofreading, which can be negotiated in advance. A consultation lesson is £20. In addition I offer a 10% discount on blocks of 10 lessons booked in advance.
- Where do you teach?
- I teach from home in a spacious, well-lit room situated in Maze Hill, SE3 (with a piano). I am willing to travel within within the surrounding areas (Lewisham, Charlton, Blackheath, Greenwich, Woolwich e.t.c) and also to other areas in London by negotiation.
- When are you available?
- This varies due to my own professional musical commitments - I try to find regular times that are convenient to my students.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- -Singing: age 11+ all abilities (I have been CRB checked)
-Piano: all ages Elementary to grade 5
-Music Theory: grades 1-8
-Music: A Level and GCSE candidates
-Proofreading: any considered - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- -Singing: ABRSM grades 1-8 plus diploma and Trinity Guildhall initial to grade 8. I also coach for music college entrance and for auditions.
-Piano: ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall grades 1-5
-Music Theory: Grades 1-8
-Academic Music: A Level and GCSE - Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes I do.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I studied music as an undergraduate at Cambridge University before accomplishing a vocal masters degree at Trinity College of Music under the professor Lynton Atkinson.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- I have a number of private students, aged between 18-45, who sing a wide variety of music. One is an aspiring pop singer, another a children's TV actress who has to sing as part of her work, and another a science teacher who sings as a hobby.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- As a teacher I aim to communicate my love and enthusiasm for music, whilst imparting knowledge which enables a pupil to aquire a solid and reliable technique. I want my pupils to enjoy themselves, and place an emphasis on fun and making music.
