Personal Message
Hi, my name is Adam and I teach Saxophone, Clarinet, Piano and Music Theory. Music has become a great passion of mine and I thoroughly enjoy teaching. I am young, enthusiastic and patient, ensuring you can achieve your highest musical aspirations.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Saxophone and Clarinet, both in a jazz and classical format. Piano tuition is at a basic standard, and I am happy to accompany students in their graded exams. I am also very interested in music theory and have relevant qualifications to teach music theory to a high standard. I can cater lessons to each individuals desires.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from Brunel University, gaining a 2:1 in Performance and the 'Sheridan Instrumental Prize' for best contribution to musical performance. I gained grade 8 Clarinet, grade 7 Music Theory and grade 5 Piano.
What kind of experience do you have?
I perform with a variety of bands in London, from function bands to jazz bands. Along side regular groups I am occasionally asked to 'dep' for other bands in gigs around London. I have performed at the Royal Albert Hall, West End Live in trafalgar square and the Isle of Wight festival, amongst other venues.

I have a vast amount of experience playing Clarinet and Sax in musicals such as Blood Brothers, Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver! and My Fair Lady for school plays and dramatic societies.

I have experience teaching at all levels, both in schools and privately. I taught at Sefton Park Primary and Secondary School in Harrow and Stoke Poges respectively. I have over 4 years of one-to-one tutoring experience, both in the UK and in Cyprus, with a 100% pass rate in ABRSM practical exams. My students are aged between 4 and 50.
How much do you charge?
I offer a free 30 minute trial lesson, after which a lesson is £25 an hour. I am willing to travel to a pupils house, however if the journey is more than 20mins in one direction I will add a £5 cover charge. I am willing to teach groups at a reduced rate.
Where do you teach?
I can teach at my home or at a pupil's house. The closest town to me is Greenwich and am willing to travel if a pupil is unable to travel to my house. I am willing to travel anywhere within 8 miles of my home or close to an underground station (travel charge may apply).
When are you available?
I am available every day of the week, including weekends. I am willing to teach between 9am and 7pm. I am usually in the London area during summer holidays and close to seasonal holidays.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
Having taught between the ages of 4 and 50 and am willing to cater to anyone's needs. I have taught people who haven't played saxophone or clarinet before and quickly built them up to a grade one standard within two months. I have also taught students more advanced in their graded exams.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students for all Associated Board exams and currently have four students preparing for grade two and one preparing for grade three. I try encourage all my students to share their music by performing as often as possible to rid them of exam nerves.
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, I have a fully updated CRB check.
Where and with whom did you train?
I studied with London famous saxophonists Frank Griffith and Tony Woods. I won a bursary in my final year of my degree which i used to fund extra lessons with Max Johnson.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I am currently preparing five pupils their graded examinations in March and June. All students I have entered for exams have passed with flying colours. Those not wishing to partake in the graded exam system learn at their own pace and enjoy playing musical exercises and pieces I create for them.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Music has become my life and is something I am extremely passionate about. I experience the most enjoyment when playing music and believe if you're having fun the learning possibilities are limitless. I therefore enjoy creating tailored exercise for my students and always aim to keep their lessons amusing to absorb their full potential.
