- Hello, thank you for reading my profile. I am trained to teach dyslexic learners in higher and further education, regardless of the subject studied. I am also trained to teach English as a foreign language. I am experienced in tutoring English at all levels. I can also help with 11+ preparation, including English, Maths, verbal and non-verbal reasoning), general study skills and reflective writing, which is often required of students training in the caring professions such as teaching, nursing and occupational therapy. - Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach English as a Foreign Language. I also teach English Language and English Literature at all levels and prepare students for the 11+ exam. I am trained to tutor dyslexic learners in further and higher education and can help no matter what subject is being studied. .
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I am trained to teach English as a Foreign Language and have CETLA certificate. I also have a degree in English and have studied the International Baccalaurate. I am trained to tutor dyslexic adults in further and higher education.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have experience teaching English as a Foreign Language in Japan. I taught students in small groups and on a one-to-one basis. In England I have tutored people from a range of countries on an individual basis, including children from the age of 4 upwards. In addition, I have experience in tutoring English GCSE, 'A' level, tutoring students in preparation for the 11+ SATs and I.B English and helping less confident students who could benefit from having personal attention and help with English. I also have experience in teaching study skills to dyslexic students in furhter and higher education. I also have experience in helping HE students with reflective writing, which is often required of students training in the caring professions such as teaching, nursing and occupational therapy.
- How much do you charge?
- My fee per hour ranges between £20 and £50. I offer a 25% discount for group lessons. I prefer to work from a fixed location, but will travel to student houses where time permits. I do ask that my travel costs of 25p per mile of a return journey are paid if I am required to travel.
- Where do you teach?
- I teach from my home in Greenhithe, Kent. There is residents' parking only outside my house before 4pm Monday-Friday but there are car parks nearby and I live a five minute walk from Greenhithe train station. If required to travel to students' houses, I am willing to travel for up to an hour each way.
- When are you available?
- I work from 10 a.m. to 8pm and can be flexible with my schedule. Please enquire for further details.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach anyone from the age of 4. There is no upper age limit. I teach all levels.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- GCSE, 'A' level and I.B English language and English Literature exams, IELTS
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I have a CRB disclosure certificate.

- I am willing and able to tutor via email and Skype.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- I belong to ADSHE, an organisation for dyslexia support tutors.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I have a degree from the University of North London. I trained for my CELTA certificate at Farnborough College of Technology and completed the International Baccalaureate at Exeter College in Devon. I was trained to tutor adult dyslexic learners in further and higher education at London Metropolitan University.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- I am currently tutoring students preparing for their GCSE exams in English Language and Literature, students preparing for the 11+ exam, students in key stage 2 and 3 who require extra help with their schoolwork and children who have English as a foreign or second language.
