- Personal Message
- Hi! I'm Nikki, a fully qualified teacher who offers home tuition at Primary level. I currently have sessions available at 4pm on Tuesdays and 5:30 on Thursdays.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach English and Maths at Primary level (up to age 11).
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I qualified with a PGCE in General Primary (5-11) from the University of Reading in 2006. I also have a BA(Hons) Classical Studies and English, and an MA in Classical Studies.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I taught across the primary age range (3-11) in state schools from 2006-2011, and have marked KS2 English SATs for the last 3 years. Since April 2011, I have been a home tutor.
- How much do you charge?
- The initial (assessment) session is £20, and all following sessions are £26. I can continue throughout the school holidays, or provide school holiday booster sessions.
- Where do you teach?
- As I find that children learn best in a familiar environment, tuition takes place in your home. I travel to Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham and the surrounding areas to an approximate 10 mile radius from Winnersh.
- When are you available?
- During term time I have vacancies at 4pm on Tuesdays and 5:30 on Thursdays. I also offer courses of booster sessions in the daytime during school holidays which are useful to prevent the "dip" that children tend to experience after time away from school.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 (ages 3-11).
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- KS2 SATs
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- The University of Reading, 2005-6. I completed my NQT year in West Berkshire in 2007.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- There are a range of ages and abilities which I currently teach, including academically gifted children and those with special educational needs. Each child has their own programme of study which has been worked out according to their requirements and changes according to the results of ongoing assessment.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- I take an individualised approach to tuition which takes into account your child's academic strengths and weaknesses and builds upon what they are learning at school. Study programmes are worked out flexibly with alterations made according to their progress.
