Tell me about your qualifications.
Degree in Law, CELTA, Certficate in Teaching IELTS, Advanced French Certificate.
What kind of experience do you have?
I am a former Air Hostess as well as a former lawyer. I have been teaching since 2004 when I started teaching French on a voluntary basis. This gave me my love of teaching and so I went on to take CELTA and have been teaching English as a foreign language/business and legal English for the last two years.
How much do you charge?
Generally £15.00 plus £5.00 for travel more than 5 miles. For groups of 4, I charge £20.00 per hour and £.3.00 for extra people thereafter. Maximum 5 people per class.
Where do you teach?
I live quite close to the centre of York and work within a 5 mile radius of the city. I travel to students' homes or students may come to my home, as is most appropirate.
When are you available?
I work on a flexible basis, Monday to Friday, to be arranged with individual students (some Saturday morning slots available in term time).
Which ages and levels do you teach?
English language/Business/ legal English all ages, all level.
French All ages. Up to and including GCSE level.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
IELTS, First Certificate, GCSE French.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes.
Where and with whom did you train?
Open University, York College, London Teacher Training College.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I have a very wide and varied student base, both children and adults, worldwide.
A student heard about me from a friend of his in Saudi Arabia and Last year, Ali, travelled from Saudi Arabia to be taught English by me in my home for three weeks.
Politicians, Company Directors and Lawyers from all over the world.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Dont be daunted by language learning, it is not as hard as you think and I promise I wont teach you grammar the boring way you learned it in school !
