- I am passionate about both music and teaching. I use a supportive, friendly and creative approach to guide my pupils to becoming confident musicians and flautists.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Flute and piccolo. Musicianship and theory is included in the lessons.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have a Bachelor of Music degree with honours from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I am an experienced musician who has performed with many orchestras, chamber groups and as a soloist as well as being a committed teacher both privately and with Redbridge Music Service. I run flute courses and workshops and conduct bands and flute groups. I can accompany pupils on the piano during lessons and I'm currently training to be a teacher of the Alexander Technique.
- How much do you charge?
- £32 an hour. £16 for 30 mins.
- Where do you teach?
- In my flat in Muswell Hill. In a spacious room with a piano.
- When are you available?
- Evenings during term time.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I have taught beginners of six years old, eighteen year olds who are post grade 8 standard as well as adult amateurs. I especially enjoying teaching children and teenagers, whether they are total beginners or advanced players.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall exams as well as preparation for concerts, competitions and auditions.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- I'm a member of The Association for Teacher and Lecturers.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Sarah Newbold, Philippa Davies, Ian Clarke and Averil Williams.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
- A lot of my pupils enjoy playing in bands and orchestras both within their school and elsewhere. Playing with others is a fantastic learning experience as well as great fun. A lot, but not all, take exams and past pupils include those who have achieved distinction at grades 7 and 8. I have had pupils that went on to study music at university and one who won a music scholarship to Marlbourgh College.
