- BA Hons French 2:1 Durham University (distinction in oral) 1991 CTEFLA (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) 1995 Cert GSMD (Jazz sax performance, Guildhall School of Music) High Honours (2001) Post Grad Dip (Jazz Sax) Trinity College of Music 2002 Grade 8 Classical Clarinet 1986 (Merit) Grade 8 Jazz Clarinet (2002) High Honours 'Being an effective teacher' ABRSM online course
- What kind of experience do you have?
- 20 years 1:1 tutoring experience, 12 years teaching clarinet and saxophone. Currently preparing for an ABRSM teaching diploma (clarinet) and having private lessons with one of the UKs top clarinet teachers/music educationalists. I am also a Year 5 teaching assistant at Woodstock CE Primary which enables me to gain extra teaching practice and skills.
- How much do you charge?
- Initial consultation is often free, and the first 6 lessons are on a pay as you go trial basis. Please see my website for further details.
- Where do you teach?
- I teach at home and may occasionally be available to teach at students homes within a maximum radius of 5 miles eg : Woodstock, Yarnton, Cassington, Oxford, Bladon, Begbroke. Please note that an extra charge will be payable for teaching at pupils' homes.
- When are you available?
- I am available Monday-Thursday between 3.30pm and 7pm and some Saturdays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- Clarinet and Saxophone from age 9 upwards. French age 6 upwards.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall music exams, French GCSE and A level.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- I have an up to date CRB as I work part-time in a Primary school.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
- The Incorporated Society of Musicians.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I studied French at Durham University and spent 5 years living in France. For music, and especially jazz I trained with the top names on jazz summer courses and Trinity College of Music and had 1:1 lessons John O' Neill (author of the Jazz method for Saxophone). I am currently preparing a clarinet teaching diploma and having lessons with Paul Harris, music educationalist, composer, clarinetist and author.
