- I am a friendly, approachable primary school teacher, with several years of teaching and tutoring experience. I offer a positive experience of learning and focus on building my students' confidence.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach all subjects at primary level (key stages 1 and 2), most usually English and Maths. I also teach English and History at KS3, GCSE and A level.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I am a qualified primary school teacher. I have a PGCE in Primary Education from Bradford College and an MA Hons in History from St Andrews University.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have a range of experience of teaching and tutoring, including one-to-one tuition and class teaching. I am currently a year 2 teacher in a local school. My students have included those with ASD, dyslexia and behavioural problems, as well as those who are gifted and/or talented. As a tutor I have taught English, Maths and History to children who have been excluded from mainstream education, children who are home-schooled, those who are struggling to keep up with class work and those whose high abilities are not stretched at school.
- How much do you charge?
- Standard fees: My usual fee is £30 per hour of tuition. I also sometimes charge a travel fee of £5, depending on the client's location. Group discounts are available - please enquire.
- Where do you teach?
- I usually teach in my students' homes. I am able to travel to students living in Stamford, Oundle, Peterborough and most of the surrounding villages, covering parts of Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.
- When are you available?
- I am available for tutoring from 4pm to 10pm, Monday to Friday. I also have some availability at weekends - please enquire for details. During school holidays I can usually offer intensive tuition blocks, e.g. blocks of 5 to 30 hours of tuition arranged over 1 week to suit the client.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I teach children from age 5 to 18, including key stage 1, key stage 2, key stage 3, GCSE and A level.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- I prepare students for 11+ common entrance exams, key stage 1 SATs, key stage 2 SATs, GCSEs and A levels.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- As a practising school teacher I have an enhanced CRB disclosure.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- Where appropriate I can offer online tuition, either via live Skype sessions or by email correspondence.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- My aim for all of my students, whatever their age and ability, is that they enjoy their learning and grow in confidence. My sessions are fun but intensive - I expect the same level of respect, commitment and enthusiasm from my students that I give to them.
