Classes
The Bearsted Kumon centre is an after-school maths and English club, held at Madginford Hall on Mondays and Thursday from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. The centre provides a large waiting area and a spacious car park. Students usually spend about 20-30 minutes per subject in the centre, during which time they exchange their completed homework for new work from their study folders and collect their class work for the day. Homework is recorded by classroom assistants during the time they are within the centre. The student's work is marked, as it is completed in the centre, and corrected.

Whilst work is recorded students complete a number board which challenges the mind and helps with number recognition, number patterns and multiplication tables.

As a motivation tool a sticker system is in place, which enables students to work towards prizes. Students are provided with coloured homework folders and these change annually.

An Advanced Student Roll (ASR) ceremony is held twice a year where students are recognised for their ability nationally, depending on their age and level of work achieved at the end of March and September.

Ages and Levels Covered
Kumon programmes are designed to help children of all ages and abilities and complement the school curriculum. No age restriction.
