General music revision for GCSE and A-Level exams - Tell me about your qualifications.
- BMus (Hons) from Edinburgh University, Faculty of Music.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have over 7 years of experience in teaching children and adults, both piano and theory. All of my students who have taken ABRSM exams have achieved well deserved high scores. I have also worked with students with learning difficulties.
I have also held music after school clubs at my local primary school as well as taking part in community music projects in schools and children's hospital whilst at university.
In 2010 I co-founded Cactus Music School, which runs, amongst other things, children's workshops during school holidays as well as regular adult evening classes. - How much do you charge?
- £35 p/h for piano and theory lessons (£18 per half hour)
Intensive revision days and Grade 5 Theory days also available - £ dependent on level - Where do you teach?
- I teach from my home in Maida Hill in a designated music room.

- Tell me about some of your current students.
- I currently teach children from the ages of around 4. Lessons vary depending on the student but from around 7 years old I usually follow the ABRSM syllabus combined with theory, composition, improvisation and some history.
I also specialise in teaching Adult beginners. You will be playing with 2 hands in the first lesson! - Do you have a personal message for students?
- I am very enthusiastic about music and hope that my students will take some of that enthusiasm with them at the end of every lesson. My lessons are fun (if you have practised!) and always varied. I have a very high exam success rate and very loyal students who have been coming to me for many years.
I believe learning the piano should give the student an all rounded musical education. Therefore my lessons usually include a certain amount of theory and history (of course not at the expense of the piano!) which I believe helps my students to understand what they are playing and to play it better.
